So, your business has just won a high-end award. Obviously someone from the management team or higher up in the business is going to step up and accept it. But what about the team that worked tirelessly behind the scenes on the campaign, product or service? Isn’t it...
Sustainability is a bit of a buzzword these days, but that doesn’t make it any less important. With 90% of the world’s population breathing polluted air, and more than 500,000 trees cut down every week, just to make newspapers, every effort counts. And our work here at Impact Glass Creations is no exception!
You know all those awards you won in high school? Maybe you were on the debate team, or you won a little trophy for coming second in the 400m relay, face painted blue or green or whatever your colour was. Well, believe it or not, those awards are incredibly unsustainable. Shocker, I know!
They’re exactly the kinds of awards that are causing problems in the awards industry. Cheap materials, fast-fashion-esque manufacturing, and designs that make you want to re-evaluate your life choices. Nasty.
So when we set out to create custom awards for businesses, we wanted to distance ourselves from those kinds of awards as much as possible. High-quality materials, finely-tuned manufacturing, and incredible designs that will look great for years to come. Put it together and you’ve got a recipe for something special. If we do say so ourselves.
What makes our awards sustainable?
Sustainability starts with good design. When it comes down to it, materials like acrylic and resin are never going to be classified as sustainable, but only because they don’t break down when discarded. With exceptional design, not only do you control the kinds of materials going into the awards, you’re creating something timeless. Something people can love for decades to come, and ideally will keep forever.
Of course, we do incorporate a range of sustainable materials into our awards. Natural, sustainably-sourced hardwoods, metals, glass and crystal and more are all at our disposal. Every part of our process that can be made sustainable has been tweaked to achieve that goal.
What starts as a blank canvas comes together through our innovative design and manufacturing process to make our awards sustainable and memorable.

These are the kind of hardwood plantations that supply our manufacturer.
Manufactured for sustainability
Once an award is designed, all the information goes off to our manufacturers to be brought into reality. We work “hand in glove” with our award manufacturers to ensure they are aligned with our vision for sustainability and quality, and we’re extremely happy with the results they’ve delivered over the years.
Beyond the obvious, our material factory do whatever they can to reduce the impact manufacturing has on the environment.
Solar panels on the roof power their manufacturing machinery, reducing energy consumption from non-renewable sources dramatically. Plus by sourcing wood from sustainably managed forests, they make sure the carbon footprint of our timber awards is as small as possible. It’s a win-win situation because these thriving plantation forests are located in desolate or low productivity areas. In fact, because they use renewable energy, they can pass those savings onto us, and in turn on to our customers. It’s a win-win-win!
All wrapped up with delivery
When it comes to sustainability, our delivery process is no exception. We’ve eliminated as much plastic as possible from our deliveries, and the plastic that is included is re-used from other parts of the manufacturing process.
The die-cutting process our award display boxes go through creates a lot of waste in the form of foam offcuts. We then take that foam and use it as packing, filling the space to ensure your awards are 100% protected in transit. Alternatively, we use shredded paper when it’s available.
And when we can’t make use of waste products we use recyclable ones! We use paper mesh as an environmentally friendly alternative. All of these make for great alternatives to your typical plastic packing peanuts, bubble wrap and plastic air bags.

We’re constantly looking for new ways to make our processes more sustainable. In fact, we offer custom sustainable awards specifically created to promote sustainability in your business.
